Course Description
The goal of the Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor Course is to provide the potential instructor canidate the abbility to assit the student with:
- Information needed to recognize infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest
- Information and strategies needed to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children
- The cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in respiratory failure, shock or cardiopulmonary arrest.
Course Length: 8 hours
Course Cost: $275.00
Intended Audience
Pediatricians, house staff, emergency physicians, family physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who are responsible for the well-being of infants and children.

- PALS Text, Required
- ECC Handbook, Strongly Recommended
Instructor Materials:
- Instructor's Manual: Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- PALS Instructor's Tool Kit with required videos
Card Type: Course completion
Written/Skills Exam: Required for completion card
- A current AHA provider card for the course you wish to teach.
- A letter of recommendation to be an instructor from an affiliate/regional or course faculty member (not required for BLS).
- Letter from a Training Center Coordinator indicating that the TC will accept you as an instructor.
- Willingness to teach the scientific and program guidelines of the American Heart Association.
- Commitment to teach two courses per year according to AHA guidelines.
